Tracey: Who are your favorite bands/music artists?
Jessica: Oh my gosh, I love so many. But I would have to say Kelly Clarkson, because I love that style of music, pop/rock. I love Gwen Stefani because she is so unique, but there are a lot of bands I like. I listen to Green Day too, lots of different styles.
Tracey: Any young pop rock singers, like that we’ve interviewed? You said you thought some of them were cute.
Jessica: *laughs* They were all cute. I can’t choose. Funny.
Michelle: You said you like Chris Trousdale yesterday.
Jessica: Yeah, he was cute. Yeah. *laughs*
Tracey: Do you play any instruments?
Jessica: I play a little piano and guitar for fun. I like playing all kinds of instruments. It’s really cool.
Tracey: You have some cute clothes, where do you shop?
Jessica: Well thank you. I like to shop everywhere, but I would have to say some of the small, boutique places, because they have unique clothes. I like to be in cute clothes, but I don’t know, I like to have my own little thing.
Tracey: Do you prefer to talk on the phone or im or myspace your friends?
Jessica: Well, I used to like to instant messenger a lot, but now I talk on the phone more. I also really like myspace, because it is really great to keep in touch with my fans. It’s awesome.
Tracey: Yeah, I love how a lot of the bands keep in touch with their fans now, if they do their own myspace.
Jessica: Yeah, I think that’s really cool. It’s important.
Tracey: What do you like to do to unwind after school?
Jessica: Lets see, well I come home, then I usually like to have a little snack to get rejuvenated. Then, I’ll finish my homework. And then, I’ll work on my music, of course. I also like to get on myspace and talk to my fans. It’s really fun. I love it so much.
Tracey: That’s a good thing. Speaking of fans we actually have some questions sent in by them.
Jessica: Cool.
Tracey: The first one is from Patrick. As a father of two teenagers knowing how much artists are looked up to, what do you plan to do to be a good role model? Who were your role models and what did they teach you? – Patrick
Jessica: Okay, that’s a good question. Well I definitely think that I’m a good role model, because I lead a very healthy lifestyle. I like to work out. I’ve never smoke, drank, or done drugs, and I don’t plan to do that. I’m also a really assertive person, and really ambitious. I think that’s a good thing to look up to, and respect for somebody following their dreams. My role models, my sister and my parents, because they are so supportive and I love them so much.
Tracey: You told us you started singing at the age of 5. How did you know at that age that you would like to be a popsinger? – Michael
Jessica: Well actually when I was 5 I didn’t really know exactly what style of music I wanted to sing. I just knew that I wanted to sing, and that it was my life. It’s kind of funny, because I was identified as a good singer by my kindergarten teacher, so I signed up with a voice teacher, actually I auditioned and she said I was the youngest person she would have ever taken on, but she decided to do so anyway. I just loved it. My first song was actually “A Whole New World” from Aladdin.
Michelle: That’s so cute.
Jessica: *laughs* That’s so funny.
Tracey: Tell us about your first live performance. When, where, and how did it go? – Michael
Jessica: Hmm well I guess I’d have to say the first thing I ever did live was one of the recitals my voice teacher had when I was 6, because it was a year after I started taking voice. I sang, this is funny, I sang “A Whole New World” for that. And I guess I was frightened or scared at first, but then I went on and I had so much fun, and I loved performing.
Tracey: When did you score your first success with your music? – Michael
Jessica: Hmm there’s a lot which is really exciting. I guess my first one with any kind of music, not with pop music, was in third grade. I auditioned for “The Sound of Music” and I got the part of Gretel, which is the youngest child. There were hundreds of girls that auditioned for it, guys too, for all the parts of the children. It was exciting. I remember I was sleeping and my mom woke me up and was like ‘You got the part’ and I was so excited, because I was so young and I was in a musical. It was so cool. It was so much fun.
Michelle: Fun.
Tracey: Awesome. When are you coming out with a CD? - Bruce in Oregon
Jessica: Well I’m working on one right now. I’m not sure what the date is yet, but look for one, and keep checking back.
Tracey: Will do. You’ll have to update us when you know, if you have a date for one.
Jessica: Yes, I will.
Tracey: We’ll let everyone know.
Jessica: Aw, thanks so much.
Tracey: As we all know you are a member on Myspace, how did you find it? – Michael
Jessica: Lets see, I joined myspace as a personal profile, because someone was like ‘oh you should join, it’s really fun’. I didn’t really know that it was for music, then when I got on there I found out people had there music on there, and people were doing really well. I was like ‘oh I want to do that too’ so I converted my personal profile to a band myspace. I started promoting my music, a lot of people found out about it. It was really cool.
Tracey: Hmm.
Michelle: I don’t think I’ve added you yet, I’ll have to add you.
Jessica: Yes, you have to add me. You must.
Tracey: Go through our top friends and add her.
Michelle: Ok.
Tracey: How do you change that? We were thinking about putting up some of the music from our artists on ours. Do you have to notify someone or can you do it yourself?
Jessica: Actually on myspace, you’re supposed to have the copyright to the songs. But maybe if you asked it would be ok, like I’d be okay.
Tracey: Ok, otherwise I know there is music players you can get, but they want you to upload the song, so I would have to get the artists to send me their songs. Just thought it would be cool to have some of the songs on there.
Jessica: That would be cool.
Tracey: Do you run your own myspace, do you do the layouts and pictures and everything?
Jessica: I run my own myspace, like you know I get the pictures and everything, and I put them on. I do all that, but there’s this really great guy, that’s helpful with making all the banners. His name is Michael Van De Velde (McCoy24). He has been awesome, taking the pictures I get, and putting them into a banner, so people can find me. He’s really cool.
Tracey: Yeah, he sent us a handful of questions.
Jessica: Yeah. Aww.
Tracey: What would you like to be remembered for? – Rachel
Jessica: I definitely want to be remembered for being an awesome performer, having great music. I definitely want to be remembered for my music. But I also want to be remembered for being a great role model, because I think that is really cool too.
Tracey: Sounds good. Is there anything else you’d like to say to your fans?
Jessica: Definitely. I would just like to say thank you so much for supporting me. I love you guys so much. Check back. I’ll be getting more stuff, all the time, I’m always updating. Share my music with your friends, spread it around. Once again thank you.
Special thanks to Jessica for everything. We had fun. Best of luck with your career! Also thanks to Patrick, Bruce, Michael, and Rachel for submitting questions.
