Tracey: Right, makes it more fun.  Do you have a cd coming out? – Ashley

Justin: Actually, like I was telling you before I recorded a demo, but I’m going to record 3 more songs that I’ve written, then they’ll probably go together, and we’ll start sending them out, so other people can hear, and buy it if they really like it.

Tracey: You played Tiny Tim in “A Christmas Carol” and Colin Craven in “The Secret Garden”.  What was it like playing such classic roles?

Justin: Actually, I thought it was really funny, because every role that I’ve ever played in, in like you know these musicals, I’ve always been crippled.  I thought that was hilarious.  I never played anybody any different then that.  I’ve always had a limp, so if you asked me now to limp I could do it.  The only thing I’ve ever done, was a movie, that I didn’t have to limp or anything.  Those plays were a lot of fun.  I had to sing and dance.  It was awesome getting into a character, that you’re not usually in, so it was kind of fun being a different person.

Donna: That’s always fun.

Tracey: You won Tampa’s 95.7 The Beat vocal competition, where you competed against all adult singers.  What was that like?

Justin: That was actually really nerve-wracking.  It started when I met Olivia Fox, from the morning show, when I was performing, and she was like “Our radio station is having a contest for singers.  I can’t guarantee you’ll be in it, but you have to call in and try to get into the station.  Then you have to sing for the people on the radio station, and whether or not the people on the radio station will vote for you.”  I called in, and I got through, then I got to sing for them, and I got into the top, think it was 10 or 12.  They were like “You got through” and I was about to go to this competition.  Then, the day before the competition, they told me “Oh there’s certain songs you can sing”, and I was like oh man, because I was preparing something else completely, you know.  I got the cd, and I had to learn a complete new song.  So I kind of knew the song, but I had to practice on, and make sure I could hit the notes.  Then I finally went to the competition, and showed up there, and it was all adults, and I was like oh my gosh, and I was stuck in the middle.  It was really nerve-wracking.  But once I was up onstage, like I said, I’m a different person.  It was awesome.

Tracey: Wow, that’s really good, especially to beat out all adults.

Justin:  I know, that’s why I was, and they were all really really good, talented people.

Tracey: Well, you’re talented too.

Justin: Well, thank you.

Tracey:  Okay, now for some fun.  Have you ever played word association before?

Justin: No.

Tracey:  Okay we say a word, then you have to say the first word that comes to mind.

Justin: Okay.

Tracey: April.

Justin: Did you say April?

Tracey: Yeah.

Justin: I guess, sun.

Tracey: Easter.

Justin: Eggs.

Tracey: Disney.

Justin: Mickey.

Tracey: Blue.

Justin: *can’t quite make it out*

Tracey: Circle.

Justin: Did you say circle?

Tracey: Yeah.

Justin: Triangle.

Tracey: Pop Blitz.

Justin: You guys.

Tracey: Florida.

Justin: Hot.

Tracey: M&M’s.

Justin: I was thinking, are you talking about the candy?

Tracey: Yeah.

Justin: I was thinking about m&m’s the candy, and Eminem, you know the rapper.

Tracey: Music.

Justin: *can’t make out*

Tracey: Theater.

Justin: Hairspray.

Tracey: Hairspray?!

Donna: That was cool.

Justin: You saw the movie too?

Donna: No, I haven’t seen the movie.  I’ve seen the musical.

Justin: Did you like it?

Donna: Yeah, I haven’t seen it in awhile.

Justin: That’s good, I like that one.

Tracey: Oh, you meant the musical.  I thought you meant hairspray that you put on your hair.  I was like what?

Justin: *laughs* No.

Tracey: What are your plans for this summer?

Justin: My plans for this summer.  I’m actually going to visit the record companies again, with my new music, and go through all the interviewing again, with the one’s that are still looking at me, like Atlantic and Interscope.  So that should be really exciting.  I get to see them again, hopefully.  Keep your fingers crossed.

Tracey:  Good luck.  Those are some big deals.

Justin:  Yeah.  So I’m waiting to see how that goes.
